Cooked and raw meat concoctions are in our freezers!  They can be enjoyed as the main course meal or as wholesome additions to your pet’s usual food.  Variety is never short at Woody’s.  By rotating our meat meals, your pets can take full advantage of all our wholesome ingredients’ nutrients, vitamins and minerals.  And with our 100% meat meals and whole food mix-ins, you can make hundreds of pet food combinations to meet your pet’s unique nutritional requirements and exquisite taste!  

We do not put any denaturing compounds to our food, nor do we use scraps or freezer-burnt meats.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT:  In the non-Western world, dogs and cats are still fed real food, cooked or raw…believe it or not.

Cooked or Raw?

Dog and cat’s bodies are designed to eat and digest raw food.  It is what they would eat in their natural habitat and before the invention of pet “fast food”.  Our pets’ stomachs are much more acidic and they secrete a higher level of digestive enzymes which creates a hostile environment for bacteria.  Some holistic vets say that cooking alters both the physical and chemical makeup of the food.  Cooked meat is not as “bio-available” due to the fact that:

• Fats become altered
• B vitamins and antioxidants are destroyed
• Naturally occurring digestive enzymes and good bacteria are lost

But, some holistic vets prefer cooked food because

• Most raw meat today contain environmental pollutants and microorganisms that cooking can destroy
• Today’s pets’ immune system have been compromised such that they cannot handle bad bacteria anymore

The bottom line is the decision to feed raw or cooked depends on what you as a pet parent believe or are comfortable with.  Either way, feeding real food to your pet will bring them health, vitality, balance and longevity.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT:  Vet school students are taught pet nutrition by pet food company representatives or professors funded by pet food companies (90% admitted to being funded by pet food companies in a 2009 Consumer Reports article).  Ayayay, sounds like the big pharma-doctor relationships all over again!
